I may have mentioned before how enthusiastic I was about some aspects of the system I built at Belton. This is especially true for the integrated editor - I took it to the point where it could actually generate new pages (complete with embedded dynamic code), populate a new htaccess file for clean URL’s, [...]
Today was a good day at work; I really did a little of all the things I love doing. I tweaked the RewriteRules for our Apache server, I fixed some bugs in legacy code, I wrote a form with javascript validation, and I FTP’ed a hellafied amount of stuff.
That’s right, I said ‘hellafied’.
The bugs were [...]
I finally had time to get around to fixing the little problems I was having with the dev version of our Dedicated Servers page. The functionality was fine; it just looked really dumb for a second or two as the javascript loaded.
Click here to see it in action.
As can be expected, I ran into some [...]
As an Open Source kinda guy, it’s hard to read this and not LOL just a little bit.
“We are aiming to remove the barriers that hobbyists and academics have faced in the past, by allowing them access to the best software and hardware that can be developed…”
Oh? You mean, correctly, the barriers that hobbyists and [...]

The new home page is up. There weren’t really any issues with it except that the banner rotation function I wrote was taking longer to download than I expected. I fixed it, though.

Sunday, Cliff and I went to Ernie’s for brunch. We were having our typical pseudo-philosophical conversation, which is why I love Cliff.
As we were checking out, Cliff was talking about how he believed most people were inherently too weak-minded to control themselves (and thus people want control subconsciously). I asked him if he’d read Leviathan since [...]
Last night I set myself to the task of building my mini-megaplex on A Tale in the Desert. I had previously expanded my quasi-fortress with some sweet brickwork so that it looked like a stupid letter “L” in the middle of the desert. But I was going to undo this and just make a gigantic [...]

‘Twas a weekend of misadventures. I will not recount the entire story of the greatest misadventure of them all, I will only give you what the title of it would look like:
“So, about the day I mistakenly walked into a strip bar in the ‘hood…”
Anyway. I spent a lot of my weekend making bricks out [...]
Today we had a brainstorming meeting with the marketing execs about where we’re going to go in the next few months. It was just me, my 3 designer colleagues, and…them. What’s kind of amazing/intriguing is that this is something I sort of initated a few weeks ago when I mentioned off-hand that our website looks like [...]
Well, here it is. My new awesome blog. Finally some content on smackblast.com, after all these years!
Admittedly, part of my motivation for this is that, hopefully, I can start bitching talking about web development stuff on teh interwebs. There’s a time and a place for forums, but generally it seems that most people on forums [...]
