So I’ve been talking everyone’s heads off about this chat system. We tested it today and it worked. We tweaked a few things and basically celebrated the fact that it was done. I had been under this huge time crunch to get it done today.
Then we heard that we aren’t deploying it on Monday like [...]
The title here is pretty serious. What I’m about to tell you has really changed my life for the better. Are you ready? Here it is:
I stopped using an alarm clock several months ago.
I don’t mean that I used my cell phone as an alarm instead, or that I found some other way to artificially [...]
I’ve finished the chat system. For now. I’m really feeling good about that.
I know nobody else understands my excitement. When I first heard about this project in April, I had the impression it was going to be the one dreamkiller…the project I just couldn’t figure out. But hey, I survived!
On Friday night, I went out and bought the Band of Brothers boxed set. All this, and I’d never actually seen a single episode of this show - I just figured I’d like it.
Well, it’s pretty good. Unfortunately, I can’t really tell what’s going on a lot of the time due to shaky cam, dark [...]
My only thought on the current state of our economy is that I hope it encourages more people to pursue engineering disciplines.
I have been working steadily on a new chat interface at work. Surprisingly, it has been easier than I imagined although I’m pretty sure I’m doing it all in a backwards way.

I’m pretty sure I never mentioned my encounter with Bow Tie Tim during my brief employment with Belton Schools. He is called thusly due to a predilection for bowties. He applied for a “webmaster” position we had. I won’t go into the story of why webmaster is in quotes, but the fact that nobody is [...]
We bought a house.
It’s a beautiful Victorian built in the late 1800’s which was completely remodeled 5 years ago. It sits on a double corner lot in NE Kansas City in a beautiful neighborhood of historic homes. It’s truly amazing!
If you’re curious, you may see a mockup of our new homepage with a special spokesperson in the lower right-hand corner here.
Yes, that’s me in the lower right hand corner. I can reveal no more details at this time except to say that this particular picture of me won’t actually be used .
It is the end of a long, lonesome road. Tomorrow Jamila will be here and Thursday we will tour the cream of the crop houses I’ve seen. Hopefully on Friday we will be making an offer of some sort on a house since we’ve heard nothing about the short sale we tried to get in [...]
