First off, I admit to an interest in generating random statistics (check it out here). Today I began actually looking in depth at our website stats and found that since we redesigned the homepage, we’ve more than doubled the clicks on our advertising campaigns and pageviews are up across the board.
I’m happy because, you know, the designers and the rest of the marketing department truly hate each other now. They are fighting over things which are sort of abstract to begin with. Meanwhile, I just look at the stats to see how I’m doing. I can see off-hand that I’ve decreased load times by several seconds while increasing traffic. This is a victory and, to be blunt, I think everyone else needs to quit bitching and get with the program here.
But hey, that’s just my perspective. I’ve kind of determined that even if it came to blows between them, my only request would be that they keep the corpses and blood in their own offices.
This just needed to be said. I feel rather serene being in the middle of this raging tempest and having no real interest in the outcome as long as I’m able to continue my work.
